Zoe's Bone Marrow Buddies was founded in 2007 in loving memory of Zoe Bontrager Schultz. Zoe was a fighter from the moment she entered the world. Zoe was diagnosed with a rare immune disorder at the young age of 18 months. She spent many months in the Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Unit of Riley Hospital for Children undergoing medical treatments, including a bone marrow transplant. On December 7th 2006, Zoe lost her battle after undergoing her second bone marrow transplant.
Those who love Zoe quickly knew her memory and spirit must live on, to help others find hope and health, and fight what often seems like a losing battle. In her honor, we raise money to support the Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Unit at Riley Hospital for Children. All funds raised help create an environment of hope for the patients and families.
